The best high school track and field athletes in West Virginia will converge on Charleston this weekend as the 2026 WVSSAC track and field state championships return to Laidley Field at UC Stadium.
State titles, records and team championships will all be on the line over the two-day meet, which begins Friday with preliminary sprint and hurdle heats, distance finals and multiple field event championships before Saturday’s championship races across all four classifications.

Where: Laidley Field at UC Stadium, Charleston
Schedule: Preliminary heats in the sprint and hurdle events, distance finals and multiple field event championships take place Friday. Finals across all classifications a slated for Saturday, beginning with the 400-meter dash at 9:30 a.m. and concluding with the 4×400-meter relays. Find the full schedule here.
Tickets: Tickets can be purchased here and are $11.50 per day or $20.90 for an all-session pass.

Athletes to watch
Class AAAA
Jefferson junior Elecia McCurrie headlines a stacked Class AAAA field after earning the top seed in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dash. McCurrie has been one of the fastest athletes in West Virginia all spring and could leave Charleston with multiple gold medals.

Amya Seay-Grasty, Oak Hill, senior: A sprint standout with top seeds in the 100, 200 and 400.
Imani Wood, Jefferson, senior: One of the state’s fastest quarter-milers and a major factor in the sprints.
Molly Brinker, Wheeling Park, senior: Leads the 100 hurdles field and is among the favorites in the 300 hurdles.
Milleah Johnson, Huntington, senior: One of the top hurdlers in the state and a key contributor in Huntington’s sprint relays.
Rianna Farrow, Wheeling Park, freshman: A rising star who enters the state meet seeded second in the 200 and among the top 400 runners.
Victoria Ribas, University, sophomore: A major contender in the 400 and a key piece of University’s relay teams.
Ayla Kidd, Washington, senior: One of the state’s best hurdlers and a crucial part of Washington’s elite relay squads.
Class AAA
George Washington senior Annie Whited may be the most dominant athlete in the state regardless of classification. She enters the weekend as the top seed in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dash and will also factor heavily into the Patriots’ relay success.

Lily Larnerd, East Fairmont, sophomore: A sprint standout seeded near the top in the 100, 200 and 400.
Juliana VonWulffen, Winfield, freshman: Already one of the classification’s top runners with elite seeds in the 400 and 800.
Julia Biola, Elkins, junior: A distance specialist with strong chances in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200.
Bethany Farry, St. Albans, senior: One of the top hurdle runners in the state and a key piece of St. Albans’ relay teams.
Carly Manchin, East Fairmont, sophomore: Leads the field in the 300 hurdles and is also a contender in the 400 and relays.
Kiana McClung, George Washington, junior: One of the top sprinters in Class AAA and a major relay contributor.
Sarah Hess, John Marshall, junior: A consistent sprint threat in both the 100 and 200 while also helping lead John Marshall’s relays.
Class AA
Frankfort junior Bailey Ferguson headlines a loaded Class AA distance field after earning the top seed in both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs. Ferguson is also seeded second in the 800 and could be one of the meet’s biggest point scorers.

Joscelyn “Josie” Cox, Roane County, junior: The favorite in both hurdle events and capable of piling up major points.
Riley Sotomayor, Ravenswood, senior: Leads the 400 field and is also among the top seeds in the 800.
Raley Cochran, Lincoln, sophomore: The top seed in the 800 and second in the 1,600 after a breakout season.
Parvatee Snyder, Moorefield, sophomore: One of the top sprinters in the classification with strong seeds in the 100 and 200.
Kathryn Grimm, Tyler Consolidated, senior: Sprint standout and relay contributor who will be heavily involved in Tyler Consolidated’s team title chase.
Addison Richardson, Williamstown, junior: A top contender in the 400 and a major relay athlete for the Yellowjackets.
Kayla Baker, Philip Barbour, senior: A consistent distance runner with top-five seeds in both the 1,600 and 3,200.
Class A
Charleston Catholic distance standout Arabella Boggs enters the state meet as one of the top overall athletes in any classification. The senior owns the top seed times in both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs and is also among the favorites in the 800 after posting a 2:24.30 seed time.
